Carina Kalaw

Carina Kalaw has over 25 years experience in the commercial real estate banking industry with senior leaderships roles in Loan Syndications as well as stints in Originations, Investment Banking and CMBS. She is currently with BankUnited, N.A., SVP, Head of Real Estate Syndications since October 2019 and was tasked to build the real estate syndications capabilities of the bank. Prior to that, she was Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Loan Syndications at Capital One, N.A. and before that, Managing Director, Head of US Real Estate Loan Syndications at WestImmo, AG (WestLB), where she formalized and expanded both bank’s syndication activities in the US. She had a brief stint at Societe Generale (SG Americas Securities, LLC) where she established their real estate syndications capabilities in 2007. She had stints at Eurohypo, AG, Fleet Securities, LLC (now BAML), UBS Securities, LLC and Chase Securities, LLC. She has extensive experience in originating, structuring and distributing secured and unsecured term loans, subordinated terms loans, mezzanine loans, construction loans, letter of credit facilities, unsecured lines of credit, secured lines of credit and subscription lines of credit for REITs, REOCs, real estate funds and private developers. She has substantial coverage and long-standing relationships with commercial banks, investment banks, finance and insurance companies, mezzanine, debt and hedge funds in the CRE space in the US and in Europe. She graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in Marketing from the Carroll School of Management.
